A few patients, who like to sleep on their side, have complained about the mask sliding off a beat as the face rests on the pillow. This can cause a significant air leak leading to eye irritation, and more importantly, apnea because of the pressure leakage. The noise of the air leak can also wake up the patient and the spouse too.
They have been delighted when they started using this pillow. They have loved it. The pillow has an indentation on each side that allows the mask or the cannula to hang in the air as opposed to being pushed off by the conventional pillow.
Today on Aug 23rd, 2016, I rode my new Specialized bike to work and needed a place to nap at the clinic during the lunch hour. The girls were napping in the employee room. The drug rep was still chatting with our staff. I decided to open a pillow and nap one of the exam rooms.
The pillow comes in a soft thin plastic that was easy to tear. The cover was neatly folded and felt smooth and soft. Putting the cover, I realized that it was cleverly made to fit the pillow perfectly without distorting the pillow or leaving any excess cloth on the sides.
I put the pillow on the exam room table and put my head on it. It did not feel too firm as some of my patients have commented. I rolled on my right side and even though I did not have the CPAP mask on, I could imagine how that recess can help the CPAP users. I took a power nap of about 20 minutes and woke up like a new person!
That is my story. And here, is what the manufacturer has to say!

Here, are the routine care instructions:
For optimum life, fluff daily and refluff occasionally in a tumble dryer at warm setting for 10 minutes.
All commercial and home laundry detergents are approved for use as long as the manufacturer’s instructions are followed. Always balance the load and use water temperatures not to exceed 120 F. We recommend enclosing the pillow in a mesh laundry bag and using a front loading large capacity washer on gentle setting. Do not wash a damaged pillow.
Tumble dry at temperatures not to exceed 120 F. Pillows may take a few hours to dry depending on your dryer. For additional agitation place clean tennis balls in with pillows. Keep drying until all synthetic feathers feel light and fluffy. If necessary, air dry (cool down) for an additional 30-60 minutes depending on your dryer. Caution! Never allow pillows to sit in a hot dryer after the drying cycle is over. Use the cool down cycle or remove pillows immediately from dryer .
Surface wipe with neutral detergent and lukewarm water. Do not use bleach. Surface rinse and dry thoroughly. Do not machine wash or dry.
Surfaces wipe with a quaternary solution at the recommended dilution ratios. You should first test the fabric with the solution you are using to be certain that the fabric is performing as required. Under no circumstances should a phenolic-based cleaning agent be used.
The PAPillow is bacteria and fungus resistant, stretchable, fluid proof, and stain resistant.
In short, if you are a side sleeper, then check this pillow out. It will help you sleep better.
